Talking about sensuality reminds me of Carl’s Jr advertisement. Becuase of Kim Kardashian, It became the hottest and the most sensual ad. Thank to this ad, Kim became wellknown and popular as well.
In marketing, marketing sensuality is not something new. A product offered by the wildness of sensuality could have been more accepted in the market rather than a product offered by the facts of the excess.
The election of Barack Obama as President of the United States could become the latest evidence about the influence of sensuality in political practice. In fact, the most influential celebrities in the world according to Forbes magazine, Angelina Jolie, also regarded the president of the United States Obama is a sexy man. Not only Jolie, Megan Fox also said the same thing about Obama. For these sensual artist, Obama is one of the sexiest world leader. For them, his body and the way he speech are so sexy. He became an authoritative figure.
It is not a surprise then if Obama later on was designated as one of the top ten sexiest men 2009 version Your Tanggo. Not only that, Obama is also set as the best-dressed man of 2009 by Vanity Fair magazine. Obama’s strong sensuality attraction even has made his inauguration event was also sensual and almost look alike a fashion show event.
Either because they want to copy cat, or just try to attract Obama’s attention, I believe sensuality has entered the Indonesia’s political arena today. Look at the advertising costs incurred by candidates for president of Indonesia in the 2009 Presidential election and also the recall on how the couple SBY's so "smart" to come up with ads full of charm. In fact, there are reportedly ad SBY who identify themselves with the figure of Obama.
In Indonesia's political arena, sensual approach is not something new. Allegedly sensual (in terms of genitalia), once used as a political tool to break the opponent. News such as “siliet” case which used to cut the penis while singing "Tabur Flowers" and ended with a mass free sex actually triggers people to do what is desired by the political actors.
As Acehnese who happened to be active in Aceh conflict monitoring, I often heard and found cases which use sensuality as a political media beat your opponent.
There's nothing really wrong with the use of sensuality in gaining political support, especially if sensuality is meant to be the charm (verbal and non verbal). After all, the support becomes very important to maximize the performance of building political.
But it becomes really matter if its usage has tendency in order to "hypnotize" good community and to raise interest and compassion to make people's limited political stronghold dealing with critical groups.
Unfortunately, the change of political stance on the level of the regime has not been balanced by middle-class. Until now, the political pressure is still used as a way to fight the regime. As a result, many demos that actually ended with fellow demonstrators clashed (pros vs. cons).
Are there any who could advise any movement model changes which able to overcome current regime’s political sensuality primacy?
